North Shore Region
The North Shore Regional sites are located in Revere,
Salem,
and Gloucester. All have a long and strong history in
Massachusetts.
Revere has the honor of being home to the oldest public beach in America, Revere Beach.
Salem, of course, has the dubious distinction of being
home to
the Salem Witch Trials and is also the birthplace of American novelist
Nathaniel Hawthorne.
Gloucester's fame lies in being America's oldest fishing port.
Programs:
Revere
Supported Work – Transitions participants to permanent, unsubsidized employment through “on-the-job” training at a company worksite.
Salem
Work Employment – assists TAFDC recipients find employment leading to self-sufficiency through various training.
Supported Work – Transitions participants to permanent, unsubsidized employment through “on-the-job” training at a company worksite.
Adult Basic Education – Meets the specific educational needs of adult students who have limited basic reading, language and math skills and/or limited English proficiency.
English for Speakers of Other Languages – Assists adult students who have limited English proficiency by meeting their specific educational needs.
Food Stamps – Provides eligible Food Stamp recipients with education and training services leading to increased education/skill levels, employment, and increased advancement/earning power.
Gloucester
Supported Work – Transitions participants to permanent, unsubsidized employment through “on-the-job” training at a company worksite.
Currently funding is derived from the following: Department of Transitional Assistance and Workforce Investment Act (WIA) through the Southern Essex Workforce Investment Board; direct funding from the Department of Transitional Assistance and the Department of Education.
