Supported Work is designed to transition participants to permanent, unsubsidized employment through "on-the-job" training at a company worksite. Supported Work provides for gradually increasing responsibilities and close supervision in a supportive work environment. The ultimate goals of the program are to increase empowerment of participants and lead them to economic self-sufficiency. To this end, participants receive a variety of employment support services including job readiness training workshops, job development, short-term skills training and remediation, vocational counseling, referral, on-the-job training and follow-up.
Automated Office Skills enables students to secure employment in a variety of secretarial and clerical positions. Core courses include: Navigating Computers/General Office Equipment, Basic and Intermediate Word 2000, Basic Excel 2000, Internet Basics, Keyboarding, Office Procedures, Office Communications and Job Readiness/World of Work. Students also have the option of selecting between two course tracks: either the Advanced Computer Skills track including Advanced Word 2000, Advanced Excel 2000, PowerPoint 2000, Access 2000, and Outlook 2000 or the Medical Secretary Skills track including Medisoft, Medical Terminology, Medical Billing and Coding and Medical Transcription. Internships, job development/placement and follow-up services all help to ensure students' success. The AOS Program is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Education.
Office Careers provides participants with ten (10) weeks of training in Navigating Computers/General Office Equipment, Microsoft Word 2000, Microsoft Excel 2000, Records Management, Office Writing, Keyboarding, Customer Service, Data Entry and Job Readiness Training. Internships, job development, job placement and follow-up services augment the program. The Office Careers Program is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Education.
Nurse Aide/Home Health Aide/CPR Certification offers a combination of classroom, lab and clinical training with the objective of providing students with a Massachusetts Certification for Nurse Aides, as well as comprehensive training in home health aide care and CPR certification. The ultimate goal of the program is placement into an unsubsidized training related position. The program is taught by a registered nurse and approved by the Massachusetts Departments of Public Health and Education. World-of-Work training, job development, job placement, counseling/case management and post placement services round out this highly successful program.
Work Employment Program is designed to help TAFDC recipients with limited education and work experience find employment leading to self-sufficiency. Training includes: Introduction to Computers, Basic Word, Basic Excel, Records Management, Office Writing, Keyboarding, Customer Service, Data Entry and Career Development/Life Skills/Work Readiness Training. Structured work experiences, counseling/case management, job development/placement and retention/follow-up services are also provided.
The Fatherhood Program provides orientation, assessment, employment and training services, peer support, parenting and life skills, job readiness training, and job placement/retention services to non-custodial parents. The intent of the program is to develop service strategies and systems that enable individuals to move into lasting unsubsidized jobs and meet their financial/family obligations.
