Reading Skills for Today's Adults - This link to the Marshall Adult Education site provides two levels of stories for reading. Level 1 stories, which are divided into 9 levels ranging between level 0.7 and 4.5, are appropriate for ESOL classes. Most of the stories are on topics that help adults become better readers and more informed consumers, parents, employees, citizens and community members such as health and wellness, civics, employment, community, family, housing, school, shopping, and government. The stories are also located on the TRA student ESL link page. This teacher link also has access to printouts for each story with comprehension questions.
New ESOL Draft Frameworks (released Sept 2005) - these frameworks should be carefully studied by all TRA ESOL teachers and integrated into ESOL lesson plans.
Movie Scripts and Screenplays - this site contains scripts of many popular movies. These may be used as content for ESL reading lessons, read along with the movie to increase student's reading fluency or acted out as a listening and speaking lesson.
Dave's ESL Cafe- popular ESL website created by Dave Spirling which includes a wide variety of features for students and teachers alike including news, discussion pages, chats, quizzes, e-mail and job postings. Also included are a wide variety of lesson materials on idioms, slang, verbs and quizzes.

Cookbook of Ideas for the ESL Classroom - a feature of Dave's ESL Cafe which includes a large collection of of more than 500 ideas and tips for teachers of ESL arranged into more than 20 categories including reading, grammar, pronunciation, writing, vocabulary, discipline, books, software and games.
Adult Education ESL Teacher's Guide - the lessons and activities provided at this site are designed for adult learners. Features include: Beginning ESL Lessons and Accompanying Teacher Training Modules; Intermediate ESL Lessons and Accompanying Teacher Training Modules; and Teaching Non-Literate Adults. All materials and worksheets are provided.

ESL Partyland for Teachers - lots of resources for ESL teachers, including lesson plans, activities, and reproducibles.
Beginning ESL Lessons many of these lessons can be printed out for homework. They cover dialogue practice, drills, telling time, etc., as well as modules on how to teach: teaching pronunciation, teaching time, etc.
Intermediate

and more. They are written for adult ESL
learners, but can also be used for high school students.
English to Go Lesson Plans - offers a free weekly lesson in some facet of the English language, called a Weekly Warmer, for all levels. While the weekly warmer is free however, be warned that using the archives of past lesson warmers requires a paid subscription.
