Meaghan Rivera, a 2013 graduate of Quincy YouthBuild, recently received a Helene D. Stoneman Scholarship and Civic Leadership Program Award in the amount of $2,000 to assist with her college education. The award recognizes YouthBuild graduates for excellence in civic engagement, community leadership, and academic achievement, with special emphasis on the student’s academic promise. In 2013, YouthBuild USA reports that 79 Stoneman Scholarship applications were received and 42 awards were made.

Meaghan is now attending the Year Up Program in Boston, researching colleges, and moving towards a career in Financial Management. According to Meaghan, “YouthBuild changed my life and provided me a direction I did not think was ever possible. The biggest thing I learned was to be comfortable with the uncomfortable and embrace my growth.”
