Brockton hosted an interactive "Leadership Training" workshop on November 14. Dr. Mev Miller facilitated the 4-hour interactive workshop presented by System for Adult Basic Education Support (SABES) Southeast. All South Shore and two Quincy staff members attended.

Student leadership is a theme this year. The focus of this training was to incorporate leadership skills into daily interactions with students and enhance programming, increase student retention, and build their self-confidence. They identified leaders and strengths among them to build a stronger team. A great many ideas sprung from the session.

Putting the leadership training into action, they made a connection with MainSpring House, a homeless shelter in Brockton. After listening to a presentation by the organization’s president, students and staff collected much needed items (hats, mittens, scarfs, socks, non-perishable food, and toiletries) for the shelter over the course of one month.
