Dillon Holmberg joined the ACHIEVE! Youth Opportunity Program in June 2014. He had just recently dropped out of high school and was having a hard time finding a job. According to Dillon, “Before I ended up in the TRA ACHIEVE! Program I was kind of just sitting around all day.
Carlos Goncalves was a student in TRA-Salem’s ABE 1 class a few years ago. Having to drop out due to scheduling issues, he was bound and determined to come back and get his high school equivalency certificate.
I believe that getting what you need in life all depends on a few factors. One: you have to want change. Life as we know it is always changing. Changing things has to come from the desire to want to succeed and do well for one’s self. Two: you have to be willing to give it your all.

My name is Cherlin Dubon. I came to the TRA-Quincy Young Parent Program in June of 2013. I want to have a better life for my daughter and me. When I came I was determined to get my GED by August and enroll in college by the fall. I worked very hard in class. My teacher was very helpful to me.
It has been a trying year for me. I left a domestic violence relationship, and was moved to a domestic violence shelter. I suffered a nervous breakdown and had checked myself into the South Shore Mental Hospital.

I came to New Bedford from Cape Verde in 2008. I could not speak English, but went to New Bedford High School. I dropped out when I became pregnant. I now have a three year old son.
