The year 2020 has certainly been a challenging one for us all! While our official anniversary date is in April…this year COVID-19 put a big damper on our 45th Anniversary announcement and celebration, and halted our annual day-long Staff Engagement Day, as well. It has also forced us to reinvent how we continue to communicate and carry on our mission to help those who are most in need. We are proud to say that TRA staff and students have risen to meet the challenge by shifting to a virtual learning mode and then a hybrid model combining in-school and virtual classes.

On December 3rd, TRA Corporate Office hosted a Zoom Virtual Staff Engagement Meeting for our 56 staff members statewide to commemorate TRA’s 45th Anniversary and to thank them for the tremendous job they have done to keep our students engaged and on track in achieving their education, training and employment goals.

Following the Welcome Address by TRA President/CEO Kim Harmon, Board Chairman Paul L. McNamara helped kick-off the event as the Honorary Guest Speaker. Mr. McNamara praised the TRA staff for their outstanding dedication and the valiant efforts they have made to carry on the TRA mission during the pandemic. He also congratulated TRA on achieving our 45th Anniversary.

TRA corporate and management staff unveiled the new 45th Anniversary Banner that each site will proudly display.

Lin Ormondroyd, Vice President of Development & Public Relations, presented the 2020 Employee Service Awards:

5-Year Cross Pens were given to Adrianna Buduski, TRA Worcester YouthBuild Employment Specialist and Gary Long, TRA-Brockton ABE Level 3 Instructor.

10-Year Clocks were presented to Cynthia Vlasaty, TRA-Worcester Education & Career Advisor, Jim Harris, TRA-Quincy ACHIEVE! Youth Opportunity Program and ABE Level 3 Instructor, and Paul Curran, TRA-Quincy YouthBuild Worksite Supervisor/Trainer. A clock commemorating her 35th year with TRA was given to Kim Harmon, TRA President/CEO.

TRA CFO Mary Gleason facilitated a Zoom Raffle which resulted in three (3) gift card winners! Congratulations to TRA-Brockton Alison Long ($25.00), TRA-Brockton Maribel Arce ($50.00) and TRA-Worcester Doug Daigle ($100.00)! The gift cards were donated to TRA via American Express.

Kim Harmon concluded the 2020 Virtual Staff Engagement Day with closing remarks including heartfelt thanks to all TRA employees and warm wishes for a Happy Holiday Season.
